Yes, we can cook!  Being so close to France and its self appointed rich heritage of culinary expertise, very little credit is given to England for the edible delights that abound.  But I LOVE English food and I think you will too.  If you have any feeling for me at all, you'll come and find out what it's all about this week as Ariel prepares just a few of 'my favorite things'.  Actually, we should have got the sticky toffee pudding in there but..... we'll just have to do it again some time!

Additionally, don't forget the Naughty Boy tasting on Friday - Jim and MJ are coming all the way up from Potter Valley.  Let's make it worth their while.

We're also selling tickets for an incredible zoo fund-raiser which takes place on the 26th.  More on that later.

Don't stay away!

'Aint 'alf bad!

So get yer plates daan to ar place fer some bril English grub.

Seriously though, it was really hard to choose but I think Ariel has come up with some classics.  I just don't know how he's doing it all for the money!

For just $20 apiece, to include wine (where's the beer??) pairings, on Thursday June 11th - 6pm to 8pm, we've got:

  • Ham and Pea soup: Not so unusual huh?  Great, smooth, warming, and good for your cholesterol!

  • Steak and Kidney Pie with Mashed Potato (fragrant, tender morsals of steak and kidney in a rich gravy, topped with a flakey, buttery, pastry shell - yum)

  • Fish and Chips (Chips, of course, are fries.  The fish is typically cod or plaice, battered and fried and traditionally served in newspaper - open or closed: open - you're eating it as you walk out the door; closed - you wait till you get home and share with the rest of the ravaging hoards!)

  • Bakewell Tart: (oh, this is one of my two, no three, or is it four....?  Well anyway, one of my favorite desserts.  Almond flavored Sponge cake layered over fruit jam on a pastry base and topped with white glace icing and a cherry!)  You'd better make sure Byron brings me a piece home!

Naughty Boy - Winemaker Reception

Friday June 12th - 6pm

When Jim and MJ first walked into our shop about 3 years ago, looking all artistic (as wine makers do, we've discovered) and told us they had selected us to sell their wine - we were naturally a little taken aback.  However, we tried it, loved it, and have been proud to sell it ever since.

Jim, has presented his wines once before in our Gallery and at that time had only the chardonnay and pinot noir.  Now he has a whole series.  You've just got to try!  Paired with tasty appetizers from Roys Kitchen.

Please try to arrive on time so that everyone can taste the wines together.

Price: $15
Plus 10% discount on all Naughty Boy Wines ordered on the night.

Click here to sign up  Please specify Naughty Boy Winemaker Reception as the subject and tell us how many people in your party.  Thanks!
